Statement from Russell Pearce

Here is the text of a statement made by Russell Pearce by e-mail to supporters that I just found in my e-mail earlier today. It shows the real class of the man:

I’m a few days late sending you this email, but LuAnne and I wanted to let you know how much your support has meant to us and to thank you for all that you have done.

The results of last week’s primary were not what we hoped for, but we find comfort in the knowledge that God had His hand in the making of America and I know my sacred duty to this Constitutional Republic. God rarely reveals his plans to us in advance; He also does not make mistakes.

I believe we can save this Republic. If you look at the effort in the Democrat Party to throw God out, to promote same sex marriages, and to openly advocate the aborting of our most innocent — the unborn — and there is little doubt that we, as a nation, are in trouble. We also know that we cannot retreat from this battle of epic proportion and each of us must continue to play a meaningful role in the ongoing effort to save our great nation, even if those roles may not be what we thought they might be.

In the short time since election night I have been pleasantly surprised at some of the phone calls I have received and some of the potential opportunities that may be available. However, before I reach any decisions on what the next great adventure will be, I look forward to first spending some serious quality time with LuAnne and the rest of my wonderful family. They have sacrificed a great deal, especially over the last several years as the attacks and distortions from those on the left grew ever more personal, desperate, and dishonest. As a candidate I always had the opportunity to respond to these attacks, but as family members, they were denied that opportunity and had to simply absorb them.

I have spent my lifetime in service to the people of the State of Arizona in a variety of positions, and I am proud of what we have accomplished together. We have made a difference, we have changed the debate in D.C. and we have made Arizona the most admired state in the nation. There is no need for a lengthy recitation of all that we have done, but together we have certainly left “footprints in the sand” that will endure for a great long time. I will always be grateful to you for your help, support, and prayers along the way.

I will continue to work to get Constitutional Conservatives elected to every position I can. We have a great deal of work between now and November if we are to save this great Republic. We will not retreat from this mission to take back America; I hope and pray that I can continue to work with each of you in this effort. I know that you know how important this battle for Freedom is. I am quite certain I will be seeing each and every one of you along the way and look forward to thanking you in person.

In the meantime, I remain your faithful servant; may God bless you and may God continue to bless this Republic.
