Marilyn vos Savant and global warming.

I like to read Marilyn vos Savant’s column in the Sunday Parade Magazine. But her column this last Sunday decreased my respect for her substantially.

She was asked if penguins could survive if introduced into the Northern Hemisphere. Here’s how she started her reply:

“No. The subject is being discussed more often because global warming is threatening penguin environments.”

I am disappointed in you, Marilyn. It shows that IQ isn’t everything. Yes, you may have been in the Guiness Book of World Records as having the highest recorded IQ, but you flunk on honesty with this reply.

Really? Global temperatures increased by 0.6 degree Celsius from 1970 to 2000 and haven’t increased since then, and this is threatening penguin environments? I’m sorry, but I have a brain of my own, Marilyn, and this just doesn’t compute. Yes, taking a position like this will insure your friendship with the establishment media, and I’m sure that’s why you said this. But it reduces my respect for you.
