Cold, unfeeling government health care

Last night, Mark Levin on his radio show had a caller, Matt from Chicago, who related an experience with his father and the Veterans Administration:

“Real quick, you’re talking about  the VA and government health care. Seven years ago my father was 70 years old and he needed a knee replacement. This man has worked his whole life – still going out to work then. And he went to the VA. He’s an army veteran, and the doctor flat out told him, the doctor’s words, that, “Well, you’re 70 years old, what do you need a knee for?”

“My father had his own extra supplemental insurance. He went through that, got his knee replaced. Seven years later, he has since had his other knee done, and the man still goes out to work every morning.

“The point being, this is a man who had a lot of life left in him and the doctor basically told him flat out, you know, why do you need a knee? Almost like, you’ve lived a good life, you’re 70, what do you need a knee for?”

We’re being played for fools by all these advocates of government-run health care. It is not more compassionate, but less. It is not less expensive, but more. The quality of care, the level of caring, and everything is a step down from what we had.

Oh, but I forgot – free contraceptives!
