Lindsey Graham a Target for 2014

I watched Lindsey Graham’s interview with Greta Van Susteren on Fox last night. I was surprised to see him come out in favor of repealing Obamacare. Repeal it, he said, and replace it with better health care reform legislation.

It’s a good sign. It means he’s reading the public mood and realizes he better be conservative for now. But I still don’t trust him. I’ve watched Lindsey Graham long enough to know he’s no conservative. It seems that he’s saying this because he reads the public mood and he wants to keep his seat.

If I were in South Carolina, I would be unmoved and would be listening for a strong conservative who could run against him in the primary when he comes up for re-election in 2014.

I’m frustrated with “conservatives” who fall for these politicians who clearly have liberal instincts. They often try to spin their lack of convictions into a badge of honor (I vote what I think – I don’t toe the party line – I’m independent. But really these people like John McCain and Lindsey Graham are much fonder of the appearance of honor than honor itself.) You can call him moderate if you want, but his instincts are liberal. Graham and McCain, being from conservative states, seem to be as liberal as they think they can get away with, then they turn more conservative as they approach an election. They’ll betray conservatives at their most vulnerable moments and form gangs of 14 and do other things that wreak havoc with the conservative agenda. Nationally, my opinion is that it should be our highest priority to get rid of them. In a state like South Carolina, we can do much better than Senator Graham.
