Global warming strikes Arizona

I put a remote sensor out by my tomato plants and this morning when I woke up it told me it was 22.8 degrees out there. We’ve set record lows in Mesa for two days straight now.

Trained as a scientist, I understand that this is just anecdotal evidence and doesn’t prove trends, but I like to use these incidents to poke fun at the global warming alarmists, because these people make no sense and they have various rationalizing mechanisms devised for detaching themselves from reality. I find that way of thinking to be an irresistible target when I am in a joking mood. So I mentioned at work that I was going to do a post on global warming today. One guy mentioned that the global warming people say that this is only another sign of global warming.

Yeah, yeah. I’ve heard them. “Global warming” isn’t selling too well these last few years, they’ve found, so their new marketing phrase is “climate change.”

The people who fall for this really aren’t thinking for themselves, don’t you think? First of all, to be giving credibility to this group of so-called scientists who have been found manipulating data and who have a political agenda – that takes a degree of gullibility that I lost years ago. And these people, not that many years ago, were predicting we would have places where they get no more snow, blah, blah. Really?? So this idea that they’ve morphed into their theories, that more snow is now taken as a sign of global warming, they are really stretching. Explain the science on that one. Oh, sorry, there is no science. They’re just blabbering words and hoping that we believe them. Think for yourselves, people. They are making no sense!

You know that story about the Emperor having no clothes? The lesson we were supposed to learn from that story was that we use our own senses and our own brain and think things through, and this is good insurance against making fools of ourselves. You people need to go back and re-read that.

So I loved an article I read yesterday in the Boston Globe by Michael Graham about the new term, global weirding. He reports: “The site thedailygreen.com has a ‘Weird Weather Watch’ page. The uber-liberal Huffington Post ran a story in August headlined ‘Global Weirding: Extreme Climate Events Dominate The Summer.'”

Cool. They’ve taken a position that is impossible to disprove. Every weather condition can now be used to prove global warming.

Problem is, this isn’t science. Michael Graham explains it well:

“For a theory to be scientific, it must be fallible — capable of being proven false. If every weather condition can be used to ‘prove’ global warming simply by being declared ‘weird,’ then it’s not science. It’s a joke.

“Which is exactly what the environmental movement has become.”

Amen, bro. I’m with you.

One Response to Global warming strikes Arizona

Your stupidity is breathtaking. Your gullibility in unquestioningly accepting right-wing and industry propaganda is laughable. Blog away, moron. It’s people like you who make it obvious that the US is utterly [expletive deleted].
    Blog away.

    Response by David Hall:

    Peter,
I have learned that when I get responses like yours with name-calling, especially when they have no arguments to offer, that I’ve really nailed it. Thanks for the feedback.

I edited out your nasty word because I really wanted to make your comment fit for publication.
