This is how we do the budget

Oh, how I’d love to be the Speaker of the House right now. I would make a statement and say that 83% of the government is operating, and that’s enough – everything essential is running. And I would say that the Constitution gives the House of Representatives the power of the purse, which I intend to exercise, to rein in out-of-control spending. And I would tell President Obama that there will be no more stop-gap continuing resolutions to fund the government, but we were going to go back to the original way this was done – fund the government with regular budget resolutions, department by department. Otherwise, get used to the so-called government shutdown, because this is the new normal. Maybe now we can balance the budget.

We have these amazing stories cropping up now. For example, the National Park Service trying to close Florida Bay. People will see that this is indeed an Obama temper tantrum. Hopefully they haven’t lost the capacity of independent thought so much so as to realize that such a shut-down takes more personnel and resources than leaving the bay open. The establishment media may try to silence stories like the parks official who said, “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can.” But stories will get out, and people will love the Republicans for standing for restraint and responsibility, no matter what the media say.
