It is clear that Obamacare was designed to supplant private health insurance with government exchanges, Medicaid-like government paid health care, and government approved insurance. But Obama couldn’t say that and get the law passed – he had to lie and say, “If you like your health care plan, you’ll be able to keep your health care plan, period. No one will take it away, no matter what.” And yes, if he had tried that anywhere in the private sector, he would now be doing time in a federal penitentiary. Pretty bad.
But worse than that, for the country, are the many politicians and media people who prop him up. Juan Williams, on last night’s Special Report All Star Panel, had to twist words like pretzels to continue to defend this.
There will always be demagogues who try to gain power by deceit. If the media covering them has integrity, they won’t succeed. If the society isn’t corrupt, they shouldn’t be able to be manipulated. The fact that Obama has gotten so far with his lies, that the media prop him up, that the Republican establishment refuses to fully engage, that is what spells serious trouble for our society.
