On Thursday, Special Report’s “12 in 2012” series featured Mike Huckabee as a potential candidate for president.
To me, it’s a wasted opportunity. The 2012 election is a chance for people who love our Constitution to strike back. Mike Huckabee isn’t the man to do it, and he will take the wind out of the sails of this movement.
Yes, he’s smooth. He can touch the heartstrings. I just don’t trust the man. I really don’t.
What bothers me is that I don’t feel he’s a true conservative, but he tries to dress up as one.
Yes, he’s strong on the social issues. But he’s squishy on immigration. He seems soft to me on the Constitution.
I have heard him often on his show on Fox. It bugs me the issues he gets fired up about – nothing that wouldn’t be supported by 70% or more of the people. The concept of limited government is on life support, but he doesn’t seem passionate about that. It strikes me that he’s too afraid to be controversial.
And I didn’t like how he cozied up with John McCain to drive Mitt Romney out of the running in the 2008 campaign, after he himself had no chance of winning.
No, I just don’t trust him.
With all due respect I just couldn’t disagree more. I sure hope he decides to run in 2012.
Huckabee I think is one of the ones we can trust for fiscal conservatism. He (along with most GOP house members) opposed the TARP bank bailouts from the very beginning when McCain, Palin, Bush, and Romney all backed them.
