In an earlier post, I compared the Libya scandal to Watergate, and marveled at how many people are willing to corrupt themselves to defend this administration: the establishment media outlets, Charles Lane, Candy Crowley.
Well, over the weekend we had another – Leon Panetta, our Secretary of Defense.
Here is the video from Fox News:
Here is what he said:
“There’s a lot of Monday morning quarterbacking going on here,” he said Thursday. “But the basic principle here is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on, without having some real time information about what’s taking place.”
Really, so that is the standard. If so, it is an entirely new standard. Apparently, Mr. Panetta has set new rules for the military. Heroism and courage are out. Now, when we get a request for emergency assistance, when people are being shot, instead of rushing in to save lives, which is what my understanding is of what the military has done in every previous conflict, we wait until after everyone has been shot and we can get good information about what happened. Well, I’m glad that he’s not my local chief of police or head of the fire department, but I’m sad for the country that a man with this amount of excuse-making potential is in charge of our nation’s defense.
